We are seeking experienced engineers for our new aftermarket team, come and join us! 

Vard Design & Engineering are parts of VARD and leading in development of advanced and specialized vessel designs.
Our solutions come together in a close partnership with clients, suppliers and our own shipyards.
In a young and dynamic working environment, supported by the extensive experience base in the VARD group, we develop ship designs that are acknowledged globally. 

As we continue to expand our aftermarket activities, we are seeking talented persons to join our dynamic team.
Our aftermarket team are involved in projects collaborating with all Vard entities and with external partners as a stand-alone service provider.
The span is wide from single consultant activities to supporting in delivery of larger conversion projects.
Vard Design vessels are located all around the globe, this team is serving them all. As a member of the aftermarket team you will play a crucial role in supporting the ongoing maintenance, conversion, and optimization of vessels, their systems and installed equipment.
Leveraging your technical expertise and maritime industry knowledge, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our customers receive world-class support throughout the lifecycle of their vessels.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engineering solutions for aftermarket projects, including upgrades, retrofits, and modifications to existing vessels.
  • Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of ship, the ships systems or installed third party equipment.
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in aftermarket segment.
  • Prepare detailed engineering specifications, drawings, and documentation for aftermarket projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maritime industry standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform aftermarket strategies and identify opportunities for solution differentiation and market expansion.

We are seeking talented senior engineers / engineers to join our aftermarket team in the following disciplines:

Machinery
As an engineer in our department you will be actively involved in a range of valuable tasks, contributing to successful execution of our projects. Typical tasks will include equipment integration, evaluation of technical specifications and developing 2D drawings of ship systems and machinery systems.
You will be part of a team that collaborates across disciplines and subcontractors.
Key software: AutoCAD

Structural
As an engineer in our department you will be actively involved in a range of valuable tasks as: Structural strength calculations, 2D drawings, communication with relevant stakeholders as Class and Client. Key software: AutoCAD, Nauticus Hull 3D Beam

Electrical
As an engineer in our department you will be actively involved in a range of valuable tasks and take part in developing interesting and challenging projects from concept to final product – electrical integration of vessels.
Typical tasks can include developing power systems, cybernetics, automation, telecom, or ICT and cyber security.

Engineering Project Management
We are looking for technical coordinators with good communication and coordination skills.
The successful candidate will act as engineering project manager, with unique possibilities to work with projects from concept development to final product delivered from quayside.

Naval Architecture & Accommodation
As an engineer in our department you will be actively involved in a range of valuable tasks, that will include equipment integration, quality control, evaluation of technical specifications and development of arrangements related to Naval Architecture and Accommodation. You will be part of a team that collaborates across disciplines, subcontractors and other stakeholders.

Detailed Design Coordination
As an engineer in our department you will be actively involved in a range of valuable tasks to put the parts together and lead the 3D-modelling and detail engineering of the Aftermarket project.
We seek engineers with multidisciplinary skills and experience, who are great team players and with solution oriented mindsets. 

HVAC
As an engineer in our department you will be actively involved in a range of valuable tasks and will be responsible for the full design and engineering of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems of the Aftermarket project.

Qualifications & Personal qualities

MSc or BSc degree or equivalent in relevant discipline, Ship Design, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Renewable energy

  • Maritime industry interest
  • Flexible, systematic, structured
  • Team player 
  • Good communications skills and the ability to work well in teams
  • Good knowledge of English language, both oral and written 
  • Experience in alteration of ships is an advantage
  • Knowledge of DNV class guideline for conversions (CG-0156)
