Infrastructure Manager for an X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Facility

The interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as academic technical scientist (AC-TAP) offering applicants an exciting opportunity to develop a newly funded experimental research facility for near-ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (NAP-XPS) at solid-gas and solid-liquid interfaces.
 

Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a permanent position starting from June 15th, 2024.
 

Job description

The tasks as infrastructure manager includes the coordination and execution of daily operations required to run, maintain, and develop the NAP-XPS instrument.
The manager will furthermore be the direct scientific contact-point for users to offer guidance for planning of the experiment, carry out training and instruction of users and provide on-going support and troubleshooting during the experiments.
The infrastructure manager will also take part in dissemination and international and national networking activities in order to build an academic and industrial user base for the infrastructure.
 

Your profile

Applicants should hold a PhD in chemistry, physics, nanoscience or equivalent and have strong experience with X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy.
Documented experience with maintenance and construction of ultra-high vacuum systems or similar types of advanced experimental equipment is a requirement.
The applicant should be socially oriented, possess communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Strong skills in written and spoken English are a requirement for the position.
 

Who we are

iNANO, Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (www.inano.au.dk), is a major research and education center based at the Faculty of Natural Science at Aarhus University, hosting 60 senior scientists, ~100 postdocs and ~80 PhD students.
The center combines expertise from Physics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Medicine to carry out world-class interdisciplinary research.

The center gives access to a broad range of infrastructure, tools and expertise, and the new NAP-XPS facility is expected to become a key part of the center’s interdisciplinary activities.
With a 5-year undergraduate nanotechnology program and nanoscience graduate program the center provides a full educational environment.
In addition to the large base of basic research, the center has a large number of ongoing industrial projects and partnerships.
