The Department of Communication and Arts is looking for a committed study environment tutor to join the tutor team for the bachelor's program in Global Humanities

Are you a student of Global Humanities, and would you like to help support a good student life and contribute to strengthening the study environment for your fellow students?

Then maybe you are the student we are looking for!

We are looking for a new study environment tutor who will work actively to support our international study environment, in collaboration with our present tutor, the house coordinator, Study Leader and study environment coordinator.

Work tasks and qualifications
All students on the department's bachelor's programs should feel welcome and at home in their study environment.
Studying at Roskilde University should be a positive, safe and inclusive experience.
The department and the tutors work hard to ensure that new and experienced students can meet and learn from each other during their studies.

In collaboration with our present tutor and with the house coordinator and Study leader, your main tasks will be to be the responsible tutor to help fellow Global Humanities students (many of whom have international backgrounds) who start in first year in September 2024.
You will be expected to be able to present important information to the students, plan events and social arrangements, and, importantly, be an active participant in the students’ digital platforms as a primary means of communication.
It is important that you are available to the students for to help with their adjustment to university and to Denmark.
Taking part in the semester start period will be a key role, including during project formation.
You will in general keep the students updated with important information on study activities, and in ongoing dialogue with them.
You will be involved in a wide range of tasks such as:
  • contributing to the planning and implementation of study environment initiatives
  • motivating the students to take the initiative for workshops and events of a social or professional nature, as well as facilitating and supporting the students' own ideas for strengthening the study environment in the house
  • communicating with and advising the students about events and professional services that can help them –e.g.
student counselling, subject cafés, subject choice days, Open House, exchange cafés, etc.
  • referring students to RUC's Student Hub for study guidance or questions about exams, registrations, SU, exchange/merit, leave, personal counselling etc.
  • supporting and fostering a good environment that makes it attractive to study on campus, including ensuring safe and tidy facilities in the GH building, reporting malfunctions, etc.
  • supporting Global Humanities students in coordinating meetings between house committees, the international student committee and staff
  • being in dialogue with the other study environment tutors about how students' needs are best met.

It is crucial that you are enrolled in the Global Humanities program and have a thorough knowledge of the program and RUC's educational model.
You should be independent, motivated and able to motivate others, persistent and solution-oriented.
The capacity to work in Danish is desirable but not essential for the position, since you will be working alongside a Danish-speaking tutor.
Insight into and empathy with, as well as a willingness to engage with, the challenges of being a non-local student in Denmark are important qualifications.

In addition, we place particular emphasis on the following:
