Flight Control Systems Lead

At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy.
The ES-30 is expected to enter into service in 2028.


Your mission

The Flight Control Systems Lead will be responsible for technical management and administration of Flight Controls team personnel.
You will organize the team into practical formations to efficiently execute its activities.
Your accountability will encompass Supplier engagement, both Primary and Secondary Flight Controls covering requirements specification and validation, design, analyses, verification, flight tests and certification activities.


Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Lead the development of Flight Controls for transport category aircraft
- Evaluate and assess candidate characteristic talent for the Flight Controls team
- Conduct formal assessment of team members as part of their performance review
- Represent Flight Controls at program and technical reviews, and Supplier meetings
- Meet with regulatory authority under the auspices of the Certification office
- Ensure team adherence to engineering processes and Industry standards
- Meet costs and schedule objectives established for the project
- Manage the execution of team assignments in support of program milestones
- Conduct technical reviews to ensure design requirements and objectives are satisfied

As the Flight Control Systems team Lead, you will report to the Head of Mechanical & Electrical Systems, with overall accountability for team performance.
Your place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden.


- People leader with a compliance mindset, strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience with aircraft flight controls or automatic flight systems
- Experience in technical leadership and safety-critical Airborne systems development
- Experience with primary and secondary flight control system development (ATA27)
- Experience with flight functions and control laws design and development
- Experience with electronic controls and actuation products and systems
- Experience with Flight Control System development through certification (Part 23 or 25 Regulations)
- Working knowledge of Airborne Hardware and Software development assurance processes (ED-12C/DO-178C and ED-80/DO-254)
- Working knowledge of Airborne equipment Environmental Qualification (DO-160)
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles (SAE ARP 4754/4761)
- Experience with Certification Authority ‘Stage of Involvement’ (SOI) Audit process for DO-178, DO-254 and ARP 4754
- Working experience in aircraft or systems development environment, either at an aircraft manufacturer, or equipment supplier company that perform activities associated with producing aerospace products
- Practical experience in a Test Rig, Iron-Bird, or Aircraft tests environment
- Proven strong ability for collaboration and teamwork
- Experience working in an aerospace Start-up environment is a merit
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English
- Eagerness to work within development team’s environment
- Passion for aircraft and electrification of the Aviation Industry
