Senior Construction Manager

Assistant the Project Team in the management of the contract in all aspects of the following items, but not limited to:

  • SHE – Safety, Health and Environment
  • Budget
  • Programme
  • Client Expectations
  • Quality
  • Promote business development

  • In all activities, ensure compliance with the Company Operating Procedures, Company Quality Assurance Procedures, Statutory Safety Legislation, good practice and our contractual responsibilities.
  • On receipt of nomination to the Project, obtain sufficient information via the contract launch and other meetings as required, to familiarise yourself with the requirements of the contract e.
    Engineering, Safe Build Methodology, Specification, Quality etc.
  • Liaise with the Project Team to review and understand the Site Programme and Phasing including any site specific constraints.
  • Assist the Project Team in the production of a plant and labour resource programme to reflect plant and labour
  • Issue the Resource Programme to the Site Labour Manager for addition to the Construction Site Labour Program.
    And advise on any changes prior to and during the
  • Assist in the allocation of Site Management and site labour (direct and indirect) through the Labour Relay details of supply (direct or subcontract employ) to the Project Team along with rate information as appropriate.
  • Obtain details of the erection budget and ensure resource is allocated as appropriate to meet the budget and the programme.
  • Provide support to the Project Manager on pre site construction planning incl crane / temporary works / specialist equipment equirements.
  • Assist the Project Team in achieving prices for services and products required relating to site based activities such as fin plate packages / site welding packages / craneage / cradle access, noting the decision may be influenced by factors other than commercial such as quality etc.
  • Brief the Site Management in respect of contract requirements and ensure this is adhered to, including the tolerance specification, applicable ie NSSS or other.
  • Manage and monitor the progress of the site activities and take action to ensure progressive deadlines are met in accordance with the programme requirements.
  • Review labour levels including Site Management and Engineering on an ongoing basis and keep to an effective and efficient level.
  • Ensure all labour is adequately trained for the task and liaise with the SHE team as necessary.
  • Ensure the Project Team approval is sought prior to changing any aspect of labour / plant / specialist packages when the project is live on site.
  • Ensure variations are being raised as appropriate and that all records relating to variations are being presented to the client and copies kept for the Project Team
  • Ensure RAMS / task briefings / lift plans / permit systems etc are in place and being worked to by operatives with particular emphasis being on the implementation of the necessary measures.
  • Ensure all Safety Issues are closed out in an appropriate time frame by the owner.
  • Ensure by review that all relevant Severfield Quality Documentation and Handovers are completed and being presented and signed by the client.
  • Drive and deliver continual improvement on site with a strong focus on safety.
  • Support the Site Manager on all labour issues (direct and subcontract) and assist as appropriate with any grievance or disciplinary matters
  • Support the Project Team in the management of specialist subcontractors g painters, deckers, mibile crane etc
  • Ensure plant, equipment and PPE are being provided, maintained and utilised as appropriate and in line with company procedures and current legislation.
  • Provide support to Project Team and Site Management at meetings as requested.
  • Visit sites regularly to ensure that all activities are being carried out correctly, to programme and safely.

  • Comply with the Temporary Works procedure which may include acting as Temporary Works Coordinator / Supervisor and ensure the appointment of the Temporary Works Supervisor.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by your Immediate Manager.
